Welcome to my campaign website. I thank you for the honor of allowing me to represent you in the New York State Legislature. As your Assemblyman from the 100th Assembly District, I’m committed to ensuring that state government responds to your needs. I first decided to run for the Assembly because I felt Albany had become blind to the realities facing Hudson Valley families and this has been a memorable first term in office.
Right here in the Hudson Valley – and all across the country – we still face historic challenges. As a results-oriented business owner, I expect results quickly. This past year, I’ve often become frustrated with the gridlock that’s become typical of Albany. Like you, I want change and action now, but the legislative process often works slowly.
Despite the pace of action, we were able to accomplish some important things for the people of the Hudson Valley, such as important funding for the Walkway over the Hudson to make that dream a reality. We also were able to secure more funding for our police departments to keep our streets safer and for our schools to make sure our children get the best education possible, while also helping to reduce the property tax burden.
While we’ve made some progress, there are a number of areas where our reforms came up short. We still need real property tax relief for struggling families and seniors, and I’ll keep pushing for a circuit breaker property tax structure – so the less you make, the less you pay. We must also continue working to turn our economy around. One of the best ways to do that is by reducing the tax burden on businesses and residents, something I will continue to fight for.
Putting people before politics remains a top priority of mine. I’ll work hard to make the tough decisions to ensure that Hudson Valley residents don’t bear the brunt of the state’s fiscal problems. As always, my door is open. I hope you’ll reach out to me with any question, concern or issue you may have with state or local government.
I hope to have your support and your vote on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.
Sincerely, Frank K. Skartados Member of Assembly 100th Assembly District |
